Description
This granary, located about 5 yards north of Cwmmau Farmhouse and next to the cowhouse, is likely from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed from rubble and features some weatherboarded timber framing, topped with a stone-tiled roof arranged in diminishing courses. The building has a rectangular plan with four bays and two levels.
On the main north-west elevation, the ground floor includes a shuttered opening and two ventilation slits, while the upper level has two 2-light windows. The north-easternmost bay contains a stable door. At the south-west end, there is a loft door with a lean-to canopy supported by timber posts, accessible via a flight of external rubble steps. Beneath the loft door, there is another door. The gable ends reveal two tiers of purlin ends. Inside, the framing consists of one row of panels at eaves level in the side elevations. This granary is included for its group value with the nearby Cwmmau Farmhouse.
