Description

This is a mid- to late 19th-century granary situated north-west of Knighton House. It is a timber-framed building clad in weatherboarding and has a half-hipped, plain tiled roof topped with a weather vane. The granary is rectangular in plan and raised off the ground by staddle stones. It is two stories high and has a plank door on its west side. The upper floor has a timber window set within a reduced opening, which may have originally been a ventilation louvre, and a probable owl hole with a perch in the gable. Inside, the walls are closely boarded, and the chamfered ceiling beam rests on bracketed upright posts. An opening provides access to the upper floor. The roof is a two-bay structure with a single principal rafter and purlins, and some timber reinforcing is present.
