Description

The Church of All Saints is a parish church with Norman origins, featuring a 14th-century chancel and tower, a vestry added in 1823, and restoration work completed in 1896 that included a north aisle, north porch, and organ chamber. The building is constructed from ironstone rubble with ashlar dressings and has a tiled roof. It consists of a nave with three bays, a north aisle, a chancel with an organ chamber and vestry, and a west tower. The chancel has three bays with coupled traceried windows, one on each side obscured by later additions, and a three-light east window with reticulate tracery. The aisle windows are similar in style, while the nave windows are in the Perpendicular style. The tower is two stages high, featuring a plinth, string course, thin diagonal stepped buttresses, and an embattled parapet, with the access stairway located at the northeast corner. The south side of the east end of the nave has a projecting rood stair. Inside, there are several historical features, including a 12th or 13th-century font, 18th-century communion rails, and 16th-century oak benches in the choir. The church also contains various wall monuments from the 18th and early 19th centuries, as well as one from 1630 featuring a bust within a classical framework of the Corinthian Order. The west wall of the nave displays a hatchment and a Royal Coat of Arms of George II from 1754, and within the tower are two bequest boards dated 1857.
