Description

Longham Farmhouse is a house dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of brick, with a pattern of headers, and has a plinth, cambered arches with stone keys, brick dentil eaves, and a tile roof with slate to the south wing. The house consists of a main rectangular block with a lower, narrower wing set at an angle off the south gable.

The west front is symmetrical, displaying two storeys and five windows, with sash windows set in reveals. A Doric doorcase featuring triglyphs, three-quarter fluted columns, and a tile hood (replacing the original cornice) shelters an arched doorway with a decorative fanlight above a six-panelled door.

The rear elevation features a lower eaves line and is symmetrical, displaying two storeys and three windows, with the central window raised and taller, matching the style of the front elevation. There are casement windows; a splayed bay, containing sashes, is located on the north side. A doorway is accentuated by a hood on posts.

The south wing, likely of older origin, is low in height and two storeys, with casement windows and doorways on its east side. A lead fire insurance sign is visible in the rear gable.
