Description
Hillamsland Farmhouse is a 17th-century lobby entrance house consisting of three bays, with a mid-19th century 'Tudor' cross wing. The original part has brick walls in English bond, while the later section features Flemish bond with blue headers. There are some Dutch flat arches with chamfered reveals, hood moulds, and kneelers. The farmhouse has a tile roof and two stacks, one of which is original, with coupled diagonal flues from the 19th century.
The building is arranged in an east-west block, with the west gable reconstituted as the north side of a more elaborate west front, creating an L-shape. The symmetrical west elevation is 1½ storeys high and has three windows, with the north side gable repeated in a smaller scale above the half-dormers. The 'Tudor' windows feature hood moulds, with two-lights above three-lights and one in the centre, all of which are casements.
There is a mid-19th century gabled porch that is timber framed with boarded panels, half glazed, featuring a 4-centred arch, a plain oval-arched doorway, and a five-panelled door with the top glazed. The other elevations are plain and irregular, with catslides within the angle. The north elevation includes two 17th-century moulded wood casements with metal lights. Inside, the main feature is a massive fireplace, which has a bread oven on the north side.
