Description
This granary, located 20 metres south of Manor Farmhouse, dates from the 18th century and is constructed from local stone rubble with a coursed finish. It features a hipped plain clay tile roof and stands two storeys tall with one bay. The upper ground floor has a keystoned segmental voussoired arch doorway, which is now accessed by a brick staircase. Above this doorway, there is a 2-light leaded casement window. The undercroft, which previously had semi-circular arches, is now blocked. Inside, the walls are lined with brick and faced with elm boards, and the compartments are still identifiable with bushel levels indicated on the posts. There is an access ladder to the upper floor, and a hoist and pulley wheel are still present. The granary is linked by a brick lean-to to the barn and is part of an important group associated with Manor Farmhouse.
