Description
The Toll House at Water of Carvie in Poldullie dates from around 1800 and was extended in the later 20th century. This distinctive single-storey, three-bay former toll house is located on the main road from Corgarff to Strathdon and features a prominent bow front and pavilion roofs. The exterior is harled.
The entrance elevation is symmetrical, facing southeast, with two windows in the projecting bowed bay at the center, a further window to the right, and a blocked opening to the left. At the rear, there is a later, slightly larger rectangular-plan addition that is off-set.
The windows have a 12-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case style, with some featuring trickle vents. The roof is covered with small grey slates, and there is a harled stack.
The interior is modern.
