Description
The Tollhouse at Allt Essan dates from around 1830 and is a single-storey, three-bay former toll house featuring a central ridge stack and harled exterior.
On the south elevation, there is a timber door in the center bay, with a window to the right and a blank bay to the left. This elevation also includes two small modern rooflights.
The west elevation, facing the Pass of Killiecrankie, has a canted end with a blank bay in the center and a window on each side.
The north elevation features a window in a lower piended projection to the left of center, with another window on the return to the right. The modern windows have a 9-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are small modern rooflights on the west elevation and two on the north. The coped ashlar stack is topped with thackstanes and cans.
