Description
The Mill of Bellabeg is a substantial single-storey water mill built in the mid-18th century. It became disused by 1903 and was converted into a joiners shop in 1911. The mill is located close to the centre of Bellabeg Village and features an L-plan layout with three bays. The building has piend and ball-finialled gabled roofs, and it retains its stone forestair, mill wheel, and some gearing. The exterior is constructed of coursed rubble with large squared rubble pink granite quoins.
The entrance elevation is symmetrical, facing east, with the wheel located to the south and a gabled bay with a forestair to the north. The timber windows have a multi-pane glazing pattern, and the roof is covered with graded grey slates and features a stone ridge. An ashlar stack with a polygonal can, along with ashlar-coped skews and square skewputts, adds to the architectural detail.
