Description
The Toll House in Colnabaichin dates from around 1825 and was extended at the rear in 1965. It is a traditional small single-storey toll house featuring a projecting semi-octagonal front, gabled side elevations, and deeply overhanging eaves. The building is constructed from squared and coursed pink and grey granite, with a pink granite eaves course, while the rear extension is harled.
The principal elevation faces southeast and includes three windows in the semi-octagonal bay on the left. The northeast and southwest gabled elevations each have a single window, with the northeast elevation displaying a window from the time of the 1965 renovation. The windows are timber casements with plate glass glazing and external secondary glazing. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are coped ashlar and harled stacks with cans. The building features plain bargeboarding.
