39 and 41 Chalton Road is a large, near-symmetrical detached villa built in the mid-Victorian period. It features snecked rubble construction, with two stories and an attic. The front has three bays and double gables, with a canted bay section on both floors to the right and a ground floor canted bay to the left. Above the left bay, there is a bipartite window supported by consoles. The recessed central bay has a segment-headed single window on the first floor, above a round-arched doorpiece that is pilastered, with balustraded steps leading up to it and ball-finialled dies. A wrought iron balcony is positioned over the cornice. The gables have small windows at the attic level and a central pedimented dormer. The villa has broad eaves and spike finials, with slated roofs. The entrance is marked by ball-capped gatepiers.
