Westerton House, Alexander Drive, Bridge Of Allan

Westerton House, located on Alexander Drive in Bridge of Allan, was built in 1803 with additions made in 1871 and 1912. This classical building features two storeys, a basement, and an attic, with a five-window ashlar front. The end bays are slightly advanced and have two consoled and corniced windows at the ground floor level. The centre of the façade includes a columned porch with decorative swag and urn relief work at the entablature, along with a segmentally arched fanlight doorpiece. The entrance is accessed by railed steps that are shaped and splayed to dies with urns. The basement is painted and rusticated, while the gables are harled and pinkwashed. The west front features two ground floor canted oriels with shouldered openings, and there is a low broad three-storey and basement tower at the rear, which is flat-roofed and topped with ball finials. The building has a main cornice and blocking course, and the roof is slated with two segment-headed dormers on the front elevation.
