Description
The Perth and District Social Work Department, located at 31 Barossa Place in Perth, is a building dating from around 1830 to 1840. It is a two-storey structure with an attic, featuring a three-window façade made of painted ashlar stone. The building has pilastered ends and an advanced central bay, which is accentuated by a Greek Doric columned porch topped with a balustraded parapet. There is a main cornice and a blocking course, along with a long modern dormer on the hipped, slated roof. Unfortunately, there is a recent single-storey extension to the east, as well as two-storey and single-storey extensions to the west.
