Description

Museum Hall, located on Henderson Street in Bridge of Allan, was designed by E Simpson in 1886-87 and is built in the 12th century Franco-Italian Romanesque style. The building is two stories with a basement and constructed from rubble. It features an overarched two-light window between higher advanced end bays, each with a five-light round-arched window on the first floor. The ground floor has two over-arched three-light windows with circular tympana, all of which are shafted. The basement includes two bipartite windows with shouldered openings.

A boldly projecting entrance porch showcases a semi-circular arched doorway composed of four orders, with a dwarf-arcade balustraded balcony above and cast-iron lamp standards. The flanks of the building have projections that contain plain round-arched ground floor windows and arched, shafted three-light windows above. The west side has three bays, while the east side has two, with the west side featuring a single-storey apsidal element in the front re-entrant angle and a small outshot at the back. The roofs are low-pitched and slated, with broad eaves at the front.
