Description

The Lodge to Camberwell Old Cemetery, built in 1856, is a Gothic-style structure located on Forest Hill Road in Southwark. It is constructed from coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and features a high-pitched slate roof supported by a corbel table. The building is L-shaped, with its entrance fronting the return from the road. It has two storeys and two bays.

The porch, situated in the angle of the L, has a four-centred arch beneath a steep gable and includes two openings: the main one is pointed with a hood mould, while the secondary opening features a Tudor arch. The windows are adorned with bar tracery, showcasing cusped lancets topped with pointed trefoils. The right-hand ground-floor window is a canted bay with a stone-flagged roof, and there is another canted bay on the left return facing the road. Diagonal buttresses are present at all outer corners. At the time of the survey, the building was empty, and all openings were blocked. The interior was not inspected.
