Description

Logie Aston, located at 32 Kenilworth Road in Bridge of Allan, is a mid-Victorian building with later additions. The original structure is built from snecked rubble and features a two-storey L-plan design, with an advanced gable on the left that includes a canted bay extending through both floors. To the west, there is a two-storey later addition with a ground floor that has a tripartite design and a very shallow projection, along with a single light gabled window above on the south front. The west front has three windows, a gable, and a gablet, with bracketted eaves.

The additions were likely made by William Leiper between 1905 and 1906, including a semi-elliptically arched entrance porch dated 1905, which is set in a finely moulded architrave. Above the porch is a bipartite semi-elliptically arched fanlight, and the porch features a semi-circular gable with a ball finial. The west front also has two crenellated single-storey bay sections, with a rectangular addition to the original west extension and a new single-storey canted wing to the north.

The building showcases patterned lead-paned fenestration, with shouldered, splayed, and moulded mullion and transom openings. A sundial dated 1906 is located at the south bay, and there is a small circular turret at the rear, which is harled and topped with a half-timber conical roof that has a slated finish and a ball finial. The lower two-storey wing on the east front is rubble-built and features slightly shouldered and chamfered openings, topped with a slated gambrel roof. Additionally, there is a lean-to glass-roofed verandah on the south front and a conservatory on the east side.
