Description
The Masonic Buildings at 104-106 Cadzow Street in Hamilton were designed by Cullen, Lochhead and Brown in 1903 and showcase a Scots Renaissance style. The main building features an asymmetrical design, with a Cadzow Street elevation that includes a crowstepped gable and tripartite windows on the left. There is a baluster-shafted section with a segmental pediment on the first floor. The right side has four steeply pedimented windows and a central arched doorway with raised voussoirs, topped by a curvilinear pediment that is interrupted by a scroll-pedimented cartouche inscribed with 'Lodge no. 7'.
On the first floor, there are four dormer windows set within a balustraded parapet, each with semicircular pediments that are broken by obelisks. The Lower Auchingramont Road frontage features a two-window gable with a central first-floor canted bay on the left and a conical-roofed stair tower in the re-entrant angle. There is a recessed link with a balustraded porch and a two-window crowstepped gablet, along with a lower gable front to the right that has corbelled angle rounds and a large round-arched three-light window with a balcony on the first floor. The property also includes a railed area.
At No. 106, there is a two-storey structure with a pilastered doorpiece featuring ball finials on the right and a three-light window on the left at ground level. The first floor has four windows beneath deeply shadowed eaves.
