Description

The Strathclyde Regional Council Education Resource, located at 4 Auchingramont Road in Hamilton, is a mid-19th century villa designed in the style of Charles Wilson. This two-storey, rectangular-plan building features classical detailing and has a large office addition at the rear. The exterior is constructed of cream sandstone, with a stugged finish at the ground floor and a polished finish at the first floor, topped by a piended slate roof. Architectural details include a base course, a band course at the first floor, an eaves course, and a corniced wallhead. The ground floor has single and paired architraved windows with corniced lintels, while the first floor features 8-pane sash and case frames, with 6-pane frames on the first floor.

The front elevation is symmetrical with three bays. The central door is topped with a fanlight and is flanked by a piered porch with a corniced entablature, with windows on either side and three windows on the first floor.

The east elevation includes a door with a round-headed fanlight at the center, with windows on either side and a single window in the center of the first floor, along with bipartite windows to the left and right.

The west elevation has a slightly advanced bay to the right with a bipartite window on the ground floor and a single window on the first floor. To the left, two bays are recessed, with a small two-storey addition in the re-entrant, featuring a window on both the ground and first floors.

The interior has not been seen. The property is also marked by two pyramidal-capped ashlar gatepiers at the front.
