21 Hope Street, Lanark

21 Hope Street is an early 20th century single-storey villa featuring three bays. The building is constructed from sandstone ashlar, with the upper part of the left gable finished in harled render and a grey slate roof. It has a base course and 2-pane timber sash and case windows, which include leaded stained glass in the upper sashes and a fanlight above the entrance. The lintel course and parapet above the windows are decorated with nailhead and guttae ornaments, and it has ashlar-coped skews and corniced stacks, with the stack on the right matching the height of the adjoining two-storey house. The villa also has rectangular cast-iron rainwater goods.

The front elevation features a panelled door at the centre, which is topped with a fanlight and framed by a moulded doorcase. There are 4-light canted windows on both the left and right sides of the entrance.

The interior has not been seen.

The property is complemented by low coped boundary walls and two ashlar gatepiers at the front, which are accompanied by geometric pattern metal railings. The rear of the property has rubble walls.
