Description

20 Hope Street in Lanark is a building dating from around 1840. It is a single-storey structure with an attic and features three bays. The building is constructed with coursed stone and has ashlar dressings. At the corners, there are panelled pilasters, and the central bay projects slightly, showcasing a pilastered doorpiece. The windows on either side have earred architraves that are splayed in an Egyptian style.

A cornice with a blocking course runs along the top, and there is a shallow scrolled pediment above the central bay. The roof has straight skews and is covered with slate, featuring two later dormers.
