Description

25 Hope Street in Lanark is a building constructed in 1836, originally serving as a Relief Church and later becoming a United Presbyterian Church in 1888. The structure features three bays with a shallow central projection and is now two storeys high. It is made of snecked rubble with painted quoins and dressings. The central door is topped with a fan light in a lozenge design and is framed by lugged splayed architraves in an Egyptian style, complete with a bracketed pediment. On either side of the door, there are two windows with splayed earred architraves and simple pediments. Above, there are three architraved windows, with the central one being earred. The central bay is also pedimented, and the building is topped with a piended slate roof.
