Penrhyn, Lamington

Penrhyn in Lamington is a single-storey house built around 1890, designed in an estate style with a Z-plan layout. It features gabled attic dormers and has four bays. The house is characterized by timber bargeboards and a distinctive diamond pane glazing pattern. There are pentice canopies with console brackets over the windows, stone mullioned box bays, and a stepped decorative hoodmould above the former entrance bay gable. The structure is made of coursed whinstone rubble, complemented by droved sandstone quoins and window margins.

The windows have timber and lead diamond pane glazing, and the eaves are overhanging with timber brackets. The roof is covered with small grey slates, and there are chamfered corniced ridge stacks with part-shafted flues topped with decorative clay cans. A later 20th-century addition with a stone base and flat roof has been added to the re-entrant angle at the rear.
