Bandstand, Hamilton Public Park, Bothwell Road, Hamilton

The bandstand in Hamilton Public Park, located on Bothwell Road, was presented by John Monteath Esq of Eddleston in 1912. It was supplied by Walter MacFarlane and Company from the Saracen Iron Foundry in Possilpark, Glasgow, and erected under the supervision of W H Purdie, Master of Works. The structure features an octagonal canopy supported by cast iron stanchions, adorned with a lute motif at the ornate cantilever brackets. It has a modern asbestos roof, a central wrought-iron crown, and crests at the center of each face. The interior includes a boarded ceiling, while the base is made of brick, surrounded by low wrought-iron railings with ornamental center panels.
