Hamilton, Weighing Room Bothwell Road, Hamilton Park Racecourse

The Weighing Room at Hamilton Park Racecourse, designed by Harold Oswald around 1926 with later additions, is a single-storey, five-bay building in a classical style. It features a large curved flat-roofed canopy that extends over the entrance, supported by rounded pilasters. The building is centrally located opposite the parade ground of the wider racecourse complex, on a site that slopes to the rear.

The central entrance door is flanked by paired windows, with additional windows at the outer ends. The roof is piended and rectangular, with a shallower pitched section at the rear that includes a large rooflight and a four-bay box dormer. There is also a later 20th-century flat-roofed section added beyond the original structure. The exterior is rendered, with projecting moulded margins around the windows and a projecting base course.

The entrance features paired timber multipane doors, and the windows are timber sash and case with a 12-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with grey slate, and there is a single rendered stack, which was formerly paired.

Inside, as seen in 2013, the main space is a large open weighing room that includes a circular and octagonal timber boarded rotunda with a rooflight at the rear. There are cast-iron fireplaces and a saddle hook in the rear changing room area.
