Lodge And Gate Piers, Hamilton Public Park, 79 Bothwell Road, Hamilton

The lodge and gate piers at Hamilton Public Park, located at 79 Bothwell Road, were approved for plans on March 30, 1908. The lodge is a single-storey building in an L-plan shape, featuring an advanced gable on the right side with a stone-roofed canted three-light bay. There is a rectangular porch in the re-entrant angle, which has a corbelled crenellated angle turret and a balustraded parapet. To the left of the porch is a small window, and there is a similar bay at the southeast gable. At the rear, there is a small piended outshot with a window and bipartite design, with the upper panes astragalled. The roof is slated with a red tile crest, and the front gables are crowstepped, with a tall ashlar stack at the rear. A small stone-walled court is located to the northwest.

The gates consist of a low hemicycle made of stugged coursers, accompanied by tall square ashlar gatepiers that are panelled and topped with denticulated caps. The wrought-iron gates feature a mildly art-nouveau design.
