Description

The obelisk in Bothwell, built in 1903, is made of rusticated bull-faced granite and stands on a polished square plinth. It features a tapered, rusticated square-plan base with inscribed commemorative plaques on each face. Above, there is a polished outswept cornice with pedimented blocks on each side.

Surrounding the obelisk is a boundary wall that has a round-ended, rectangular plan. This wall is constructed from bull-faced, snecked pink sandstone and topped with a stepped ridged ashlar coping. Wrought-iron railings complete the enclosure.
