Old Chapel House, St Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Cadzow Street, Hamilton

Old Chapel House, part of St Mary's Roman Catholic Church on Cadzow Street in Hamilton, was likely built in 1846 and features a Tudor Gothic style. The building is asymmetrical, with a single storey, attic, and basement on the south side, while the north side has two full storeys and an attic. The south section is constructed of rough ashlar and includes an advanced gabled section with a canted bay on the ground floor and a hoodmoulded window on the first floor. There is a central four-centre arched door accessed by railed steps, with a small three-light window above it. To the right, there is a piended outshot featuring a hood moulded window. The building is primarily rubble built, with ashlar dressings at the basement and the flank of the outshot. The rear elevation has four windows and a door, with a splayed east corner. The roof is slated, with coped skews and ashlar stacks, although the square shafts have unfortunately been removed.
