Description

Circa 1838. 2-storey, 4-bay, gabled, Tudor-gothic house.

Rectangular-plan with wing extension to NE. White painted harl

with sandstone dressings and margins; chamfered reveals. Base

course; quoin strips; hoodmoulds. Gabled, ashlar dormerheads

with finials.

SW (MAIN) ELEVATION: 4 bays; advanced gabled bay at penultimate left, canted window at ground, window above, blank shield in gablehead, finial. Windows symmetrically disposed in bay to left. 2 bays to right of gabled block; lean-to verandah, timber with swept lead roof. Door to inner bay, lower panelled with fixed-pane glazing and 2-pane rectangular fanlight. Window to outer right, dormerheaded windows symmetrically disposed.

SE ELEVATION: broad gable with lower 2-bay wing recessed to right.

2 windows symmetrically disposed at ground in gable, 1st floor window to right. Near-symmetrical, lower block, 2 windows at ground, that to right larger. Gabled dormerheaded window to left with window directly under eaves to right, 2 skylights.

NW ELEVATION: broad gabled bay to outer right; canted window at ground outer right, window to left. Window at 1st floor with blank shield at gablehead. Lower block to left, windows symmetrically disposed, gabled dormerheaded window.

NE (REAR) ELEVATION: 2 gabled wings to outer left and right, recessed bay at centre, windows off-centre to right, modern, lean-to, flat-roofed addition covering ground floor. Skylights. Single storey, lean-to block against outer right gable.

12-lying-pane glazing. Slate roof, lead flashings. Pitched ashlar

coping to skews and skewputts, also for dormerheads. Tall, corniced, sandstone ridge stacks, on pedestals; octagonal cans.

INTERIOR: plain cornices and plasterwork. Plain iron, railed

stair balustrade; black marble chimneypiece to dining room.

GATEPIERS: octagonal, painted ashlar gatepiers; triangulated

caps; pier to right slightly damaged.
