Description
Long Calerwood Cottages, located on Maxwellton Road in Maxwellton Village, date back to the late 18th century and have undergone later alterations. This staggered row consists of three single-storey, four-bay weavers' cottages, all finished in painted harl and sharing an identical original layout.
On the south elevation, the first cottage features a pair of windows in the left bay, a door in the third bay, and a single window in the end bay to the right. Cottages 1b and 1c have modern entrance porches. The west elevation of cottage 1a has a blind gable. The north elevation includes modern extensions to cottages 1b and 1c, while the east elevation of cottage 1c also has a blind gable.
The cottages have modern glazing and are topped with a slate roof, which features short coped stacks with cans at the gableheads. The interiors were not seen in 2001.
