Description

Old Cubley comprises two late 18th-century weaver's cottages located on the north side of Joan Royd Lane, near Penistone. The cottages are constructed of coursed squared stone and have concrete tile roofs. They are three storeys high and each one bay wide, with quoins detailing the corners. Each cottage features a 20th-century gabled stone porch. The ground and first floors each have a two-light window; the second floor windows are four-light, with the right-hand window appearing as two paired lights. The original mullions have been removed from these windows, and they now contain 20th-century casements. Flat-faced mullions originally ornamented the windows. Each cottage has an ashlar stack at each end. The rear elevation of each cottage features a single window on each floor.
