Description

Craig Lodge is a two-storey, three-bay Italianate villa built around 1848, featuring a recessed tower. The exterior is made of coursed sandstone and harl, with an eaves course, cornice, and timber eaves. The outer bay window openings are bracketed.

On the southwest elevation, which is the entrance side, there is a three-stage recessed tower on the outer left. This tower has single windows at the first and second stages and a tripartite window at the third stage. Ball-finialed gatepiers lead to a central square-headed entrance, which has a two-leaf timber door with a letterbox fanlight above. A bipartite window is aligned above the entrance and framed with coupled antae, leading to a balustraded balcony. To the left, there is regular fenestration on a canted bay, while the rectangular bay to the right features tripartite fenestration. An entrance to 3A is accessible via a return to the right, which also has a flat-roofed garage covering.

The southeast elevation was not visible in 1999. The northeast elevation is asymmetrical, with a bipartite window at the center of the first floor and a piend-roofed addition to the right. This addition has a window on the ground floor and a tripartite window breaking the eaves above, along with a modern conservatory on the right return.

On the northwest elevation, the tower is on the right, and there is regular fenestration on the bay to the left. The villa features plate glass and lying-pane timber sash and case windows, a slate roof with coped pitch stacks and polygonal cans, and cast-iron rainwater goods.

The interior was not seen in 1999. The property also includes square-plan gatepiers topped with ball finials at No 3, iron gates, and a coped boundary wall enclosing the site.
