Bod Of Gremista, Gremista Road, Lerwick

Bod Of Gremista is a house located on Gremista Road in Lerwick, built around 1790. It is a two-storey, three-bay structure with a near-symmetrical rectangular plan and harled walls.

The east elevation, which is the principal facade, features a modern vertically-boarded timber door positioned to the left of centre, with regular fenestration in the flanking bays and on the first floor. The south gable has a single window on the left at the first floor. The north gable includes a modern vertically-boarded timber door that leads to a salt store, centered at the ground level, with single windows to the right at both the first floor and attic levels.

The west elevation, which is the rear, presents an asymmetrical three-bay design with windows at the first floor in the central and right bays, and smaller windows at the ground level flanking the center. The house features timber sash and case windows, with 12-pane windows for the principal openings and 4 and 8-pane windows elsewhere. The roof is made of stone slabs, pegged with a stone ridge, and has harled apex stacks that are coped and topped with circular cans.

The interior has been modernized and serves as a museum, with updates made in 1987.
