66 Commercial Street, Lerwick

66 Commercial Street in Lerwick is an early 19th century, two-storey and attic tenement with a rectangular plan. It features a two-bay gable facing the street and two-bay elevations on the side closes. The gable is made of stugged squared and snecked ashlar, with droved edges, while the southeast elevation is cement rendered and lined. The northwest elevation is constructed from rubble with stugged and droved dressings.

On the southwest elevation, which faces Commercial Street, there is an asymmetrical two-bay gable. The ground floor has a painted shopfront supported by stone piers and a stall-riser, featuring a modern three-pane fixed-light window and a panelled door with a fanlight. The first floor has regular fenestration, with a single window located in the gablehead on the right.

The southeast elevation, facing Trance Closs, has two bays with a widely spaced blank area on the ground floor in the left bay. The building has timber sash and case windows, with a four-pane window on the west gable and some surviving twelve-pane windows on the south elevation. The roof is covered with purple-grey slate and includes cast-iron gutters and a downpipe with a hopper. A large box dormer, shingle-hung, is located on the south pitch, with paired twelve-pane timber sash and case windows at the head of each bay. The west gable features a stugged and droved ashlar apex stack with a cope, along with ashlar skew copes and bracketted skewputts.
