69A Commercial Street, Lerwick

69A Commercial Street in Lerwick is a late 18th century, two-storey, four-bay tenement built in a rectangular double-pile plan. The ground floor is roughcast with cement margins, while the upper elevations to the north and east are made of random rubble with stugged sandstone dressings. The windows are margined.

The north elevation, facing Commercial Street, is asymmetrical with four bays. On the ground floor, there is a plate glass fixed-light shop window at the outer right, panelled doors with glazed uppers in the centre bays, and a six-panel, two-leaf flush-beaded door with a four-pane fanlight above in the outer left bay, adjacent to a four-pane fixed-light shop window. The corner is chamfered and corbelled out to square at the first floor, which features regularly spaced windows.

The east elevation has a double gable, with the right gable containing windows at both the ground and first floors, as well as a window in the gablehead to the right of centre.

The upper floors have modern glazing, and the north roof is covered with green fish-scale tiles, while the south roof is finished with grey slate. The gables on the east have coped rubble apex stacks with moulded circular cans, while the west gables have had their stacks and skew copes removed.
