Description

East Lodge, including the gatepiers, was built in 1826 by John Smith, with later additions. It is a single-storey gabled cottage featuring a timber columned porch. The building is constructed from squared and snecked pale sandstone, accented with polished ashlar dressings. To the left of the porch, there is a canted 4-light window with a small shield emblem above it. The gable has coped skews and a pyramidal finial at the apex.

The windows are timber sash and case with plate glass, and the roof is covered with grey slate. There is a tall chamfered gable end stack topped with octagonal clay cans, and it features cast-iron rainwater goods.

The gatepiers are simple, square-plan structures made of ashlar with chamfered corners and pyramidal caps, supporting later cast-iron gates.
