Description
South Lodge and gatepiers are located in Ponteland and date from the early 19th century, with a second storey added in the early 20th century. The building is constructed of ashlar stone and features a Lakeland slate roof. It stands two storeys tall with a canted three-bay front. The central porch is pedimented and originally open, but has been fitted with 20th-century glazing. Above the porch is a moulded panel that is carved with the Ogle arms. The ground floor has nine-pane sash windows with panelled aprons. The structure includes a cornice and a corniced parapet, along with a hipped roof that has corniced ridge stacks.
The gatepiers are also corniced and feature a bust of a bull on the right pier and a deer on the left.
