Description
Benridge Hall is a house built in the mid-18th century and later modified. It features a brick facade in Flemish bond, with other walls constructed in English Garden Wall Bond and one rear facade made of ashlar. The roof is covered with Welsh slate. The building has a front block with a parallel range to the rear and left, and a double-span wing that projects to the rear, creating an overall L-plan. It stands two storeys tall.
The south front consists of two sections, with the main block having five bays. There are three steps leading up to a central Venetian doorway, which is flanked by Tuscan columns and set within a blank arch. The windows are 12- and 4-pane sashes with flat arches and projecting sills. The roof is hipped and features a corniced ridge stack. The lower block, which is recessed to the left, connects with the rear span and has irregular fenestration, including a round-headed window with radial glazing bars.
On the east front, which is the right return, there is a lower four-bay facade. In the second bay, there is a six-panel door with an overlight that has radial glazing bars, set within an architrave topped with a cornice on fluted brackets.
The rear of the building has a five-bay facade made of 18th-century ashlar. Attached to the rear is a former cottage, now used as a garage, which features tumbled-in brickwork in the gable.
Inside, the hall boasts a mid-18th-century open-well staircase with turned balusters and a panelled dado, along with six-panel doors and shutters.
