Description
St Cuthbert's Manse, located on Tweedmouth Road in Melrose, was designed by Andrew G Heiton in 1901. This building features a simple Scots Baronial style with Arts and Crafts detailing. It is harled with ashlar dressings and consists of two storeys and an attic.
The east front has a gable on the right and a central projecting crowstepped lean-to porch, which includes an inscription and the date above the door. There is a crowstepped gablet above the centre windows on the first floor. The building has a moulded eaves course, straight skews, and a slated roof.
On the west front, there are three bays, with a projecting two-storey semi-circular bow on the right that transitions into a balcony with a parapet featuring shallow merlons at the attic level. An attic window is located behind the gable, and there are rectangular coped stacks.
