Description
New Mill Farmhouse in Bonjedward is an earlier 19th-century house with later additions. It is a two-storey, three-bay structure that features single-storey service buildings with an M-shaped roof at the rear. The exterior is constructed of red sandstone rubble, accented with painted ashlar margins.
The east elevation is symmetrical, showcasing the two-storey, three-bay design. It has a boarded door at the center, accompanied by a four-pane letterbox fanlight, and flanking windows. There are also windows on the first floor beneath the eaves in all bays.
On the south elevation, there is a gable end to the right, which is blank, with a window to the right at ground level and an apex stack. A later single-storey extension is slightly set back to the left, featuring a large modern kitchen window at the center and a modern door with a letterbox fanlight to the right. This elevation also includes cast-iron rooflights.
The west elevation displays irregular M-roofed service blocks. The right gable is blank, while the left gable is lower and has a window at the far right, along with apex stacks.
The north elevation has a blank two-storey gable to the left, with a window at ground level to the left side. To the right, there are two single-storey bays that are slightly set back, each with a window.
The main block features 12-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slates, and the brick stacks are rendered.
The front garden is enclosed by a hoop wrought-iron fence, which also serves as coping for a low rubble wall to the north.
