Description

Sunnybank is an 18th-century house with later additions and alterations. It is a two-storey, three-bay building that originally had a rectangular plan. At the rear, there is a full-height, near square-plan tower from the 20th century, and a projecting single-storey ancillary structure on the southeast side, creating an L-plan. There is also a separate range attached to the northwest.

The front of the house features whitewashed harl with painted margins, while the sides and rear have plain harl. The windows have flush cills throughout.

On the northeast (entrance) elevation, there is a boarded timber door in the center at ground level, flanked by single windows on both floors, with the first-floor window later enlarged. The single-storey ancillary structure projects to the outer left.

The southwest (rear) elevation has a projecting tower that is off-set to the left of center, topped with a crenellated parapet. There are single windows recessed to the right on both floors, and the single-storey ancillary structure is attached to the outer right.

The windows are fitted with plate glass and 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case frames. The front roof is covered with grey slate, while the rear has pantiles. The building features stone-coped skews and cast-iron rainwater goods, with coped apex stacks on the southeast and northwest, along with various circular cans.

The interior was not seen in 1999. The ancillary structure is also harled, with a gable end on the northeast (entrance) elevation that includes a two-leaf, boarded timber garage door at the center. The interior of this structure was not seen in 1999, and it has a pantiled roof.

The boundary walls are rubble-coped and harled, partially enclosing the site, with a timber gate.
