Monument To The Dukes Of Roxburghe, Kelso Abbey, Bridge Street, Kelso

The Monument to the Dukes of Roxburghe, located at Kelso Abbey on Bridge Street in Kelso, was designed by Reginald Fairlie and constructed between 1933 and 1934. This building features an L-plan Romanesque arcade that forms two sides of a cloister, with two bays to the north and four bays to the east. It is supported by cylindrical piers that carry a rib vault. The spandrels of the arches are adorned with sculptured lozenges, and there is a weather table and a coped parapet above. The west face of the north range includes a 13th-century doorway with a foiled head, which originally stood southwest of the parlour but likely came from the chapter house. Additionally, there is a dwarf wall along the road with railings.
