Woodside House, Kelso

Woodside House in Kelso dates from around 1800 and is a classical building that is three bays wide and two bays deep. It stands two storeys high with an attic on a raised basement. The south front features an advanced and pedimented central bay. The entrance is located on the principal floor and is accessed by railed steps over an area. It has a pilastered doorpiece, with tripartite windows at the basement floor and over-arched Venetian windows at the principal floor. The exterior is constructed of coursed squared rubble with polished angle quoins and band-courses. There is a cornice and a blocking course, and the roof is piended and slated, featuring two later piended attic dormers. Additionally, there is a small mid-19th century single-storey rectangular summer house attached to the west of the south front, which also has a piended slated roof.
