Description
Foxton House is an early 19th century classical mansion. It has two storeys over a raised basement and features a three-bay symmetrical south front constructed in lightly droved ashlar with polished dressings, while the remainder is built from rubble. The central bay is advanced and has a pediment. There is a recessed door with a decorative fanlight and a wide pilastered doorpiece, which is accessed by steps with ornate cast-iron balusters. The first floor has a tripartite window, with 12-pane sashes in the outer bays, and the basement has doubled windows. The building includes a band course at the ground floor, broad angle pilasters, a cornice, and a blocking course. It has grouped octagonal end stacks and a piended slate roof. To the west, there is a modern low garage extension. The east and west elevations have four bays, with some windows blocked; the west elevation has one blind bay door and an enlarged window in the basement.
The property is enclosed by a rubble-built garden wall that connects to corniced square gatepiers, which are linked by spearhead cast-iron railings.
