Description
The Gateway to Shedden Park, located on Shedden Park Road in Kelso, dates back to 1852 and is designed in the form of a Triumphal Arch. It features a tall keyblocked archway flanked by paired Tuscan pilasters set on socles. The cornice and blocking course project forward over the pilasters, and there is a central raised block with an inset table that bears an inscription. The spandrels of the arch include armorial carvings. The original gates have been removed from both the main gate and the pedestrian arches on either side. Additionally, the railings have been taken away from the serpentine die-walls of the approach.
