36 Newtown Street, Duns

This is a 19th-century terraced house at 36 Newtown Street in Duns, which incorporates earlier building materials and has undergone later alterations. The house is irregular in shape, featuring two storeys and an attic, with five bays and a pend at the ground level that serves as a garage. The exterior is pebble-dashed with cement margins.

On the ground floor, there is a modern door located in the inner left bay and a former pend with a modern garage door in the inner right bay. The centre and right bays each have single windows, while the left bay features a bipartite window with a timber mullion. The first floor has three modern windows, with the one on the right being broader. Additionally, there are a pair of Velux rooflights.

The rear elevation has not been seen since 1993. The ground floor has 4-pane timber sash and case windows, while the first floor features timber casements. The roof is steeply pitched with crowstepped skews and beak skewputts, rebuilt brick stacks, and is covered with grey slates.
