Description
The National Farmer's Union building, located at 9 Currie Street in Duns, is a late 18th century structure that has undergone later alterations. It is a symmetrical, two-storey, four-bay terraced house that now serves as offices. The exterior is harled, featuring long and short cement quoins, and has stugged cement render that is lined to resemble ashlar at the ground level. There is a base course and a band course above.
At the center, there is an ashlar doorcase with a consoled cornice, which frames a modern door. The door is flanked by single tripartite windows, and each bay has windows on the first floor. The rear elevation is constructed of irregular rubble and includes a central projecting stair tower.
The building features timber sash and case windows with 12 panes, although some of the rear windows have been replaced with casements. The roof is covered with grey slates and includes a pair of Velux rooflights at the front, along with brick chimney stacks.
