Description
8 Currie Street in Duns is an early 19th-century, two-storey, two-bay end-of-terrace house that has undergone later alterations. The exterior is harled, with the front panel at the ground level featuring stugged cement render that is lined to resemble ashlar. It has a base course, rusticated corner strips, and a cornice. Each bay has projecting tripartite windows that break the cornice. The first floor windows in both bays break the eaves and are topped with gabled dormerheads, showcasing exposed purlins and finials.
The northern gable is blank, and there is a later two-storey block at the rear with an almost flat roof. This block includes a panelled door at the ground level and a window above. The rear is blank, but the southern return has windows on both floors. The house features timber sash and case windows, with four-pane plate glass in the lower sash at the ground level. The eaves are overhanging, the roof is covered with grey slates, and there are brick chimney stacks.
