Description
The Old House, located at 14 Mains Road in Paisley, is a later 18th century building with some later additions. It is a two-storey and attic structure built over a basement, featuring a three-bay symmetrically fronted T-plan layout and single-storey offices. The exterior is harled with painted ashlar margins and rusticated long and short quoins. There is a band course above the basement and a door with a lugged architrave. The windows are two-pane sash, with those on the ground floor having lugged margins, and there is a cill band on the first floor. The building has an eaves band and cornice, topped with a slate roof that has straight skews and rolled skewputts. Corniced ashlar stacks are located at the ends, and there are two piended dormers. At the rear, there is a two-storey wing and a single-storey flat-roofed range at right angles, likely from the early 19th century, featuring 12- and 8-pane sash windows and a piended slate roof with a wallhead ashlar stack.
