Description
Beechwood, located at 43 Park Place in Elie, is an early 19th-century building with a mid 19th-century wing. It is two storeys high with an attic, constructed from coursed stone featuring stugged ashlar dressings and rusticated quoins at the corners. The original house has a three-window layout, with a later advanced gable on the right side and a four-window flank and front, including an arched attic light.
There is a single-storey ashlar porch that has a pilastered doorpiece and a panelled door, topped with a cornice and blocking course at the centre bay of the original house. The roof features a continuous dormer with a central gablet, along with bipartite windows and flanking flat-roofed tripartite windows. The sashed windows have been reglazed with diamond panes. The roof is slated, with skews and three corniced stacks.
Notably, there is a first-floor window with stained glass in the north gable, and to the north, there is a single-storey harled garage with a piended slated roof. A dwarf rubble-built garden wall is present at the front of the property.
