Description
The Elms, located at 12 Park Place in Elie, is a mid 19th century building featuring a central block with later added end bays. It is two stories high and constructed with stugged coursers, which have stugged rusticated quoins and chamfered dressings around the bays and the doorpiece. The symmetrical front has three windows and a central door, which is framed by a plain architrave, a band at the middle, a cornice, and a blocking course. On either side, there are single-storey, three-light canted bays topped with cornices and blocking courses. The roof is piended and slated.
To one side, there is a later two-storey wing with a single window on each face and canted gables, featuring raised quoins at the ends and a bold string course on the first floor. The windows are 2-pane sashes. The roofs are slated, and there are corniced ashlar stacks at the gables of the original house and at the center faces of the canted bay ends.
